They would tell me their stories while I cut their hair, and then later they would share their experiences on my blog. One day I became a divorced woman myself, and the one thing we all had in common? Paige Turner is a fictional story woven throughout the book. I used fiction to tell a true story, inspired by the hundreds of stories that have been shared with me. Paige’s voice came through me – she is everything we don’t talk about. Stories that often can’t be told to protect children, which unfortunately also protects the cockheads who cause us all that pain.

Separated women are often crucified and burnt, sadly something that isn’t new to women. But shock, horror motherfuckers – we rise and become the flames of that very fire.
